“With help from physiotherapy, we have been able to avoid surgery for patients with lower back pain and sciatica who were advised surgery,” Dr P Sarat Chandra, associate professor, neurosurgery, AIIMS said.

Physiotherapy is just a fancy term for exercising a muscle that is causing pain in a person.

“After giving them closely supervised physiotherapy, only three of the 45 patients involved in a study went in for surgery. The condition of the rest of them improved and they had near complete relief from pain,” Dr P Sarat Chandra, associate professor, neurosurgery, AIIMS said.

Although the plague of medicines and surgery is still rampant even in foreign countries. Considering what was found and the results given it does make sense to look at what can be causing your pain. Remember if you need to take medicines to help your pain you should not rely on them because they do not cure disease rather they are pain killers.
