Facet joint syndrome can lead to back pain.
This lower back pain cause is often found in older adults. Brought on by osteoarthritis, this condition degrades the cartilage laid surfaces of the faucet joints of your spine. The faucet joints allow your spine to be as mobile as it is. However, it is not the cartilage breakdown that causes most of the pain. It is the way in the body responds to this minimal pain. A “hunched back” relieves some of the pressure exerted on the joint. Thereby resulting in increased wear on the discs allowing them to experience more wear. The end result is back pain.
A typical lower back pain cause is the sciatica nerve.
Your sciatic nerve can wrap around the piriformis muscle, go under or go over the piriformis muscle. While we do not have a choice in this matter we do have an impact on the piriformis muscle and how it interacts with the sciatic nerve.
Your life can be a lower back pain cause:
Saint Margaret Mercy and Saint Anthony Memorial hospitals recently coordinated a free back pain seminar. A showcase of typical causes, treatments and preventative measures for lower back pain. One of the speakers was Brian Cassani a chiropractor. He pointed out that posture, poor posture made life difficult and destroyed the spine. He emphasized that core strength training has importance for stabilizing and strengthening the whole back. This makes sense since flexion rotation and load are hard to accomplish in a single movement. With all three of these actions combined together are not three times as bad but 10 times as bad.
More lower back pain statistics frem TheStar.com.
Global research group Panadol found that 35% of the people in Europe suffered from low back pain and another 25% had upper back pain in the past three months. This was not inclusive to just men or women but each gender group suffered equally. While statistics may prove useful for bean counters it does not help you get out of pain just realizing that lower back pain is a problem shared with many people. But why is the lower back more prone to injury or pain?
The lower back is prone to damage as it carries the weight of over half your body and any excess weight in your torso. Combine that weight compression with flexion and rotation as you sit or carry out daily activities and weak muscles to carry out these activities cause subluxations, pinching nerves and then pain.
Lower back pain causes work related absences
According to the Mayo Clinic approximately 80% of all Americans will have low back pain at least once in a lifetime. The National Health Service or NHS, UK pinpoints that work related absence in the United Kingdom is related to lower back pain. A simple solution to lower statistics and get back to work is combating what experts associate with back pain causes. Primarly these are the way our bones, muscles and ligaments in our back work together. For optimal bone health eat more calcium for our muscles try core strength training and our ligaments need to be stretched.
Obese children develop back problems as adults:
Judah G. Burns, MD, a diagnostic technician of neuroradiology at The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore in New York City reviewed MRI’s of 188 spines in children ages 12 to 20. These teens/adults complained of back pain and underwent a 4 year period of imaging… none of the participants had back pain that was associated with trauma or other conditions. Findings showed that over half of them had a spinal abnormality and excessive weight. For a full recap of this studies finding take a look at EmaxHealth.com
Stomach muscles: another lower back pain cause,
The combination of flexing, compression and rotation all involve the lower back muscles. While it is true that your stomach muscles (abdominals) make up your core body they are not the only muscles that attribute to low back pain. A combination of your latissimus dorsi or lat for short, erector spinae (those muscles that run up and down the center of your back), the psoas and of course your obliques make up your core muscles. While that is just a few of them to learn about you should remember that lifting or doing any daily activites involve all of these muscles not just your abdominals or stomach muscles.

I have been dealing with lower back pain from a herniated disk for years now. I have been undergoing chiropractic therapy, physical therapy, and epidural shots…as well as pain medication. I don’t think I would ever consider back surgery unless it was to a point where i couldn’t walk.

Chronic pain often long outlives its original cause, too much medication can harm your body an worsening over time and taking on a life of its own. Recent research has shown that chronic pain is destructive to your body. your best choice is cleanse to build strong immune systems. The longer chronic pain goes untreated, the worse it becomes. Chronic pain unleashes a cascade of harmful hormones, such as cortisol, that adversely affect your immune system and kidney function. You can’t expect it to go away by itself.
