It would be insane should anyone promise a “Magic Cure”. Of course, no-one can say. Here’s the deal; if you don’t try you won’t know. It’s that simple. The first thing the majority of people think is that it couldn’t possibly apply to them, as they have a physical issue. It’s built in stone and diagnosed by an expert or a few experts. If there’s something really wrong with them, they have to work around it. They might need painkillers, injections, even something drastic like surgery.
Let me tell you some truths…
The fact that you have a physical diagnoses, especially by an expert is a major contributing factor of your back pain. The fact that now you are accommodating your back is contributing to your back pain. You need to look somewhere else for relief.
Here are clues that your pain is not coming from your back:
- Your pain goes up and down from day to day, week to week or even during the day. Most probably, it’s worse in the mornings and evenings.
- You notice that your back pain comes on at certain points. It might be being at work; being in a certain situation.
- It’s not constantly there. This means that surely your organ has already healed, which it would have even if it’s chronic? If there was something physically wrong with your back the pain would be constant, like a cut on your hand.
- You might have found that after a physical diagnoses, if you had one, actually made your pain worse or kept it present rather than made it better.
Here’s something else to consider. It might be the case that there is something structurally wrong with your back, but did you know that structural abnormalities and back pain are not related? What does this mean? Well, you can have bulging discs, herniated discs, issues with L4 and L5, sciatica, slipped disc, scoliosis, spondylolysis, etc…, but not get pain. Also, it’s vice versa; you can have pain and none of these issues present.
Here is the golden rule: Your pain is coming from somewhere else.
Really stay with that statement. It’s a whole bio-psycho-social model going on in your being that’s causing the pain. The reason is that 90% of physical issues have emotional roots. It’s plain and simple. Think, “Emotional” every time your pain starts.
The sooner you get off the, “there’s something physically wrong with me”, the faster you’ll get relief. It happened to me. So, if you are willing to drop the physical story and allow it to rest, do these affirmations. You don’t have anything to lose. They are freely available on the internet, created by a wonderful medical doctor, called John Sarno. Tension Myositis Syndrome is a term coined by him to explain psychological issues being the root of physical symptoms.
Here are the affirmations:
The pain is due to TMS, not to a structural abnormality
The direct reason for the pain is mild oxygen deprivation
TMS is a harmless condition caused by my repressed emotions
The principal emotion is my repressed anger
TMS exists only to distract my attentions from the emotions
Since my back is basically normal there is nothing to fear
Therefore, physical activity is not dangerous
And I must resume all normal physical activity
I will not be concerned or intimidated by the pain
I will shift my attention from the pain to the emotional issues
I intend to be in control, not my subconscious mind
I must think psychological at all times, not physical
All you have to do is read them daily for about 15 mins at a time in quiet. Allow them to sink in. I thoroughly recommend you purchase his book for a background on this, as you will see his own experience in helping hundreds, and now thousands, of people.
