If you experience a great pain that is accompanied by feelings of numbness, weakness, stiffness and rigidity, then chances are you have Sciatica. The positioning of your body can affect the intensity of the pain.
One of the most common causes of Sciatica is Pirformis Syndrome. This is caused when a spasm occurs in the piriformis muscle- located in the buttocks- thus putting pressure on the nerve ischiadicus. Long periods of sitting and reduced physical activity are the most common causes of a spasm.
